The agency has been appointed to manage TTL communications for two of Pernod Ricard South Africa’s premium liquor brands, The Glenlivet and Martell Cognac, including PR for both brands and the Martell Cognac Digital portfolio, effective Wednesday, 1 July, 2015. This move further denotes the ability of this powerhouse team to take on the lead agency role for multinational companies seeking to leverage their powerful brands in the South African market.

Says CEO of Publicis Machine, Adrian Hewlett, “We are delighted to be partnering with the Pernod Ricard South Africa team on these two enviable brands. The cultural synergy between our businesses is remarkable and, with a strong partnership already formed, we anticipate the creation of some groundbreaking work for both Martell Cognac and The Glenlivet.”

The team is especially fired up to partner with Pernod Ricard to launch Martell Cognac into the South African market. With a 300 year heritage, it’s the oldest great Cognac House in the world, and this provides a rich territory to successfully establish the brand and product credentials locally, through an integrated communications approach.

As the world’s number one selling single malt whisky, The Glenlivet sets the standard for quality and craftsmanship. It currently occupies the number two position in the South African Single Malts market, and with the category growing rapidly, this presents Publicis Machine with a huge opportunity to work with Pernod Ricard to increase market share.

Says Pernod Ricard South Africa Prestige Portfolio manager, Johann Van Zyl: “We are very excited about the recent appointment of Publicis Machine as the lead agency in South Africa on both Martell Cognac and The Glenlivet. Publicis Machine brings the right expertise to the table to help us strengthen the position of these two phenomenal brands. Together, we look forward to furthering our success in the market.”

Pernod Ricard South Africa marketing director, Charl Bassil echoes this sentiment: “Pernod Ricard were looking to appoint not just a creative agency on our brands Martell Cognac and The Glenlivet … but we were looking for a true business partner that would help us to nurture these brands in South Africa. We know we have found the right partners in our friends at Publicis Machine and we look forward to working closely with them to do great things together.”
