The AdFocus Awards, which recognises the best in South African communications, is known for its holistic approach to examining criteria: New Business and Growth; Business Retention and Relationships; Training and Industry Recognition; and Empowerment/Social Responsibility – entrants were assessed on all of these factors before the panel reached a decision.

Ben Evans, MD of the Digital Portfolio at O&M South Africa, says: “We are delighted to be recognised at this year’s awards, as it not only serves as an acknowledgement of our work – but also highlights the focus on people, new capabilities, client and new business growth that the team has worked extremely hard to achieve.”

One year on since the merger between OgilvyOne and Gloo Digital Design and (and 10 years since Gloo was founded), Gloo@Ogilvy has added a number of statues to its award shelf. In addition to this win, the agency was awarded a Grand Prix at this year’s Loerie Awards and a Gold at the Apex Awards – the only digital agency in the country to achieve this in 2015. It was also awarded Agency of the Year at the Assegai Awards, and was the only digital agency in South Africa to take home a Lion at the Cannes Lions Festival 2015.

“It has been journey,” says Pete Case, chief creative officer of O&M South Africa and the original founder of Gloo Digital Design, “but ultimately the decision to join forces has paid off.”

“We believe that the Twin Peaks approach – that of striving towards creative excellence and strategic effectiveness – is critical to developing breakthrough creativity while delivering on our clients’ business objectives,” says Case.

Concludes Evans; “Our achievements this year have been testament to the quality and dedication of our people across the business.”

"We are absolutely thrilled with last night’s win, which serves to highlight our ongoing commitment to providing leading digital and customer solutions for our clients, and we look forward to continuing the momentum in 2016.”
