Now in its sixth year, the concert has proved so popular that it takes place in the Mother City over three nights. KONGOS will perform on Friday, 5 August at Hillcrest Quarry while Yelawolf will perform on Monday, 8 August and August Burns Red on Wednesday, 10 August at the Assembly.

KONGOS feature Kongos brothers Johnny (accordion, keyboards, and vocals), Jesse (drums, percussion, and vocals), Daniel (guitar, vocals) and Dylan (bass guitar, lap slide guitar, vocals). The US alternative rock band composes and record in Phoenix, Arizona, where they have lived since 1996. However, they have a strong South African connection having spent their childhood in London and South Africa where they attended Johannesburg’s Seheti School.

KONGOS’ new album, Egomaniac, was released last month with its first single Take It from Me hitting the US charts. The band will be performing several songs from the new album as well as select cuts from their previous release at the concert which will also feature local supporting acts. The band’s previous album Lunatic (2012) included I’m Only Joking and Come with Me Now with the latter reaching double platinum status in both America and Canada.

Yelawolf is regarded as one of the quickest, most lyrically dextrous spitters currently operating in the rap game. Throughout his 10-year career, the Gadsden, Alabama native has released two studio albums, six mixtapes and two EPs, and he has collaborated with Big K.R.I.T., DJ Paul, Rittz, Travis Barker, Eminem and Ed Sheeran. His latest album Love Story features the single, Till It’s Gone. It has become a smash hit that’s in line with the country’s recent obsession with the culture of rural American life. Till It’s Gone premiered on the popular drama Sons of Anarchy.

Since their formation in Pennsylvania in 2003, August Burns Red has evolved into one of the biggest global names in the modern metal scene, continually growing and connecting with a colossal legion of fans. August Burns Red has spent years skillfully crafting a balance between a ferociously heavy sound with empowering lyrical content, while showcasing a rich surplus of inventive guitar riffs, blistering solos and dynamic drumming. With a solid collection of five previous albums, Thrill Seeker (2005), Messengers (2007), Constellations (2009) and Leveler (2011), the band's latest release Rescue & Restore (2013) rocketed to the top of the Billboard charts - debuting at number nine on the Billboard Top 200.
