Fin24 reports that the number of South African internet users has passed five-million for the first time, representing a 10% internet penetration for the country, according to research group, World Wide Worx.

The Internet Access in South Africa 2010 study, conducted by World Wide Worx and jointly sponsored by Cisco, found that the internet user base grew by 15% last year, from 4.6-million to 5.3-million, and is expected to grow at a similar rate in 2010, reaching the six-million mark by the end of the year.
