It seems fitting to start with some words from last season’s winner, Sdumo Mtshali, “When I was young I remember seeing Denzel Washington light up the screen and thinking that it would be nearly impossible to find my way to those heights. Winning Class Act’s first season has opened a door that could lead all the way there… And for that I am eternally grateful.”

He goes on to say that, “It takes real work being an actor. My New York Film Academy experience taught me that. There’s so much talent out there that the only real differentiator is true hard work… and that’s what makes this so special for anyone who participates – if you put in the time and the effort your quality will shine.”

This is exactly the kind of outcome Amstel Lager was hoping for when they embarked on the project in mid 2009. Class Act has proved that it can make a real difference in the lives of South Africans. It touched the market deeply and comprehensively and so it really was inevitable that Amstel made the call for a second season of “South Africa’s Toughest Film Audition.”

Together with SABC1 as the leading South African broadcaster and Curious Pictures we’re proud to go live once again on 23 April.

Last year Class Act searched for a leading man. For season two we have a script that demands a leading man and a leading lady.

So expect more breath-taking performances and more madness through the auditions, more exquisite acting in the shows and very real tears at elimination.

As Class Act host, Kenneth Nkosi, puts it: “It was heart wrenching to see some of those guys go home every week. I had to hold back the tears. Now you add beautiful, talented women. You’re making it hard for me… very hard. It’s going to be wonderful.”

In true reality show style, the show will get a format upgrade:
With double the drama we need more time to tell our stories so the show will go out at 6:30pm every Saturday from 23 April and then in the sixth week (on 30 May) every Monday, we add a half hour elimination results show live at 19:00.

Says Donovan Marsh, show creator, “In re-envisioning Class Act for season two we had a simple mandate – more entertainment, more eyes on the screen. And with all the improvements and few more surprises to come we know we’ll achieve just that!”

“Amstel Lager is overjoyed at the success of Class Act,” says Jan-Willem Van Wensem, Amstel Marketing Manager. “Rather than engage in one-way advertising we like to create dialogue, two-way content with honest conversations that drive real positive change in our market. That’s what draws people to the content and to the brand that provides it.”

Class Act proved through the on-going success of S’dumo and some of the other finalists that if you have the qualities it takes you will shine!”

It’s fitting to wrap up with more words from Sdumo Mtshali, “The finalists last year all had life changing experiences and some of us are now deeply entrenched in SA film and TV.”

He follows, “How cool is it that a great premium beer like Amstel can make such a positive difference in our lives?”
