Matriculants and their families can use the Newsbreak automated sms and voice results services to obtain their final exam results as soon as it is released by the Independent Examination Board (IEB) on Saturday, 29 December and by the Basic Education Department on Thursday, 3 January 2013.

All they have to do is to pre-register via SMS and detailed results will be sent back to them on the day of release.

Students can immediately start sending the word DBE or IEB followed by their ID number to 35935, at R3 per SMS. They will receive a return SMS asking for an exam number, for them to receive detailed results.

They can also call 082152 on the day the results are released, select option 6, punch in their ID and exam numbers and the results will be relayed.

The Newsbreak Matric Results Service was launched in 1999 and has over the years grown to become the most popular results service in the country.

Since the inception of the Matric Results Service, the SABC has enjoyed the support of the Department of Basic Education. Spokesperson Terence Khala says, “The Department of Basic Education is happy to once again partner with the SABC in making exam results readily available to parents and learners.”

Calls to 082 152 are charged at Value Added Service rates.
