From the Marikana mineworkers tragedy to the story of fellow surfers from different walks of life, there is something for all South Africans in this home-grown collection.

Says Rehad Desai, head of Uhuru Productions, the company behind these acclaimed titles: "South Africa may be found wanting on many levels, but this is not true when it comes to the conflicts, dilemmas and drama captured so well in many local documentaries. A fellow filmmaker once said 'a nation without documentary film is like a family without a  photo album.' Our own stories allow us to reflect on where we have come from, who we are and where we are heading. It's good to see VIDI being part of this process."
