5FM has partnered with Vodacom in the City and this concert on Sunday, 4 October at Emmarentia Dam, Johannesburg will kick start the birthday celebrations. Vodacom in the City promises to be an epic party with the likes of international bands The Kooks, Milky Chance and The Cat Empire alongside great local bands like Grassy Spark, P.H.fat and Al Bairre.

DJ Fresh and the Fresh@5 team (Mondays to Fridays, 05:00 to 08:00) have banded together with tattoo parlour Fallen Heroes in Johannesburg to “give away” tattoos to lucky listeners as part of 5FM’s birthday giveaways. Listeners will be asked to send their tattoo design to Fresh and five winners will be selected during the course of the week. Fallen Heroes has also agreed to throw in a full sleeve tattoo for one lucky listener. The tattoo giveaways form part of raising awareness of Fallen Heroes’ CHOC Tattoo-A-Thon.

Fans of the station will have to listen in during the month for what 5FM are calling 5FM Live Loud Birthday Party in a box. This box of goodies will be awarded to faithful listeners and encourage them to take the party wherever they go. The box of goodies will include party essentials and of course a few tickets to 5FM partnered events.

5FM are also heading to Kimberley in October for the Kimberley Diamond Cup (KDC), an international skateboarding world championship event from Friday, 9 to Sunday 11 October. 5FM DJ’s Rob Forbes, Fix, Nicole da Silva, Nick Hamman and Sol Phenduka will be in attendance and performing at the various events during the weekend. Both Rob Forbes & Fix and Nicole da Silva will broadcast their respective shows live from the event as well.
