Brands & Branding, now celebrating its 21st year of publication, is designed to highlight brands from South Africa and around the world amongst marketers and marcomms students. The book features insights, methodologies and case studies from an array of brands and key industry leaders.

Previously rotated amongst advertising and design shops annually, this is the first time the book will be designed by the same agency for consecutive years, and the first time O&M will have creative direction since the book’s inception.

In a cluttered world where the importance of brand uniqueness is needed more than ever, O&M, with support from Geometry Global, has developed a one of a kind creative concept for the cover – the first time that the publication has moved away from its traditional ‘flat’ style. Photographed by Steve Tanchel and produced by H&O, the new edition features up-and-coming model Nicole van Douwe, body-painted in zebra pattern, to convey the uniqueness of every brand. A dedicated look was created by makeup artist Chairmaine Buttrick and hair stylist Abie Greyvenstein, and led under the direction of Geometry Global creative director, Mahen Reddy.

“The collaboration celebrates a shared foundation of our love for brands and we are thrilled to see how Ogilvy has captured the vision for the future of the publication,” says Ken Preston of Affinity Publishing.

Mark Zeller, O&M South Africa’s group marketing manager, says; “Building local and global brands effectively has always been intrinsic to what we do at Ogilvy & Mather and we’re excited to be leveraging off of a mutual passion with Affinity through this partnership.”

Brands & Branding will be available in soft cover or in a limited edition hardcover and can be ordered from the Affinity Publishing Online Store on Thursday, 19 November.
