“Lungile's extensive experience in front of the camera will stand him in good stead in this demanding role,” says M-Net’s Head of Publicity, Lani Lombard. “On top of handling the pressures of a live reality show, he will manage all the emotions in the wings – from buoying contestants’ nervous families and friends to giving the singers much-needed support in the later rounds of the show. While Radu will be the link between the contestants, viewers and audience, Norman will be in charge of the exciting the social media engagement space that has become synonymous with the series across the globe. As the V-reporter, she will engage with viewers and the talent in the show as the fans at home live tweet their comments and messages of support in real time during the live shows.
“Stacey is perfect for this role,” Lombard says. “She is energetic, funky and smart and understands the social media realm. She’s definitely going to create a big buzz and we’re delighted that she will be making her television debut on M-Net."
Working in the television industry since 1998, Radu is best known for being a Channel O VJ for eight years, as well as for hosting both seasons of Big Brother Mzansi. Stacey Norman is a radio presenter, MC and voice over artist who currently fills airwaves on 947. “As a huge fan of The Voice, to now be part of it – as it launches in SA for the first time – is mind blowing. This is honestly the biggest thing that has ever happened to me and I can’t wait to get started,” Norman says.
Since its 2010 debut in the Netherlands as The Voice of Holland, this singing competition has taken the world by storm. It has been a smash hit in the US, Australia and UK, where the likes of Adam Levine, Blake Sheldon, Christina Aguilera, Shakira, Pharrell Williams, Sir Tom Jones, Rita Ora, Kylie Minogue, Joel Madden and Ricky Martin have occupied the show's iconic red chairs to choose and then coach a variety of talented singers. Joining a long list of countries – from Afghanistan, Brazil and China to Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam – South Africa is now the 60th country in the world to add a local flavour to The Voice. The South African panel of coaches consists of some of the country’s most successful recording artists; namely Lira, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Kahn Morbee and Karen Zoid.
