Underprivileged children from care homes in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit and Bethlehem have been treated to Christmas shopping sprees at their local Jet stores.

The shopping sprees were all the more fun for the excited children as a large group of celebrity guests including former Bafana Bafana soccer stars, Springbok rugby legends and South African beauty queens and musicians were on hand to help them pick out their new outfits.

Antashia Sassman, Jet Club Manager, says: “It is such a humbling and fulfilling experience to be involved with the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation. Providing some much needed clothing gifts to these children who have so little is Jet’s privilege. We are more than pleased to be able to contribute to the outstanding work being undertaken at a grassroots level by tireless individuals who, with little support, are making a real difference to the communities in which they live.”

Pictured in the attached photo are children from the Buyiselekhaya Project in Port Elizabeth, arriving home from their shopping spree. The Buyiselekhaya Project supports 110 underprivileged children with a daily soup kitchen in the Walmer Township. These street children, who had been using rubbish to make temporary shelters and eating off garbage dumps, have now been enrolled in school and provided with regular skills workshops and proper care. Buyiselekhaya also provides care for children orphaned by HIV and AIDS.
