The centre has championed the cause of environmental sustainability for the past 3 years, even winning awards for their efforts. Saving on water, electricity and recycling happens 365 days a year and the drive comes right from the top. "Environmental sustainability is in our life-blood as a centre", says marketing manager Francois Du Buisson, "we are bringing attention to recycling during Spring as we know that many people clean out their homes and get rid of old electronics and appliances and just don't know what to do with them; but green retail happens at the centre every single day. From our recycled storm and rain water that is collected in reservoirs to water the commons to our recycled Christmas decorations, this issue is very important to us".

Now the centre is trying urgently to inspire the community to take up the cause for themselves. By making it easy to get rid of items that are typically difficult to dispose of, for instance, printers or acrylic paint, the centre managers are hoping that they will become inspired and that this will set off a sort of momentum in the community. "Between the recycling drive and the expo of great home, garden and health products we hope this will be a formula that will set in motion a lifestyle change for people".

Green Rainbow for Mind, Body and Spirit will help find the perfect ‘green’ solutions for homes and businesses. A variety of environmentally friendly products will be showcased which will keep spaces spic ‘n span while being bio-degradable and free of volatile organic compounds.
Some people may still find recycling confusing so collapsible recycling containers in 6 different colours, 2 sizes and interchangeable labels will make it easier, even for the kids. “As using environmentally friendly products and recycling may still be new concepts to most South Africans, I aim to make it easy for people by keeping appropriate products that are not harmful to people or the environment,” says Debbie Rawson, Owner, Green Rainbow for Mind, Body and Spirit.

Green alternatives to body products will be on display by My Change. There will be a number of products made from natural minerals which are eco-friendly right down to the packaging. Alan Lee, Owner, Cosmic Solar Systems urges the South African public to be mindful of what Companies like his and others are trying to do for the environment, and what the general public can do themselves, to make a difference.

Offering recycling solutions for companies is Eco-Bin. Whilst currently their focus has been on providing bins for the outdoors, they are set to launch an indoor range – specifically for the kitchen – in October. Make a stop here to get a sneak peak of what is soon to be on offer. “We believe in educating people in the value of recycling, and we hope that with the launch of our indoor range we will be spreading this knowledge even further, as well as providing the means with which to carry it out”, says Candice Landie, Brand Manager at Eco-Bin.
