In August, Havas Sports & Entertainment conceptualised and managed and implemented the DStv BoxOffice launch to media and key stakeholders. The brief: create a media /publicity event that will launch the BoxOffice service, allowing the guests to engage with the product, but in an entertaining and memorable (i.e. different) way. BoxOffice “Brings Hollywood Home”, so guests were invited to movies at Brad and Angelina’s house.
Tintswalo at Waterfall Estate was transformed into a luxury Hollywood home – with a view of the Hollywood Hill! Each room in the house was themed according to movie genres that can found on BoxOffice. These rooms were hosted by Brad and Angelina’s “friends” in character, including Nanny McPhee, Sherlock Holmes and The Godfather. Everything is bigger and better in Hollywood, and this event was no exception. The presentation stage was Brangelina’s lounge with a supersized TV, couch, TV remote and bowl of popcorn. The clients were thrilled with the success of the event. Celebrated motivational speaker Bob Proctor (of The Secret fame) will be in South Africa at the end October into November. Havas Sports & Entertainment has been appointed by the rights owners to manage and implement the gala dinner for 1 500 guests and seminar for 2 500 delegates. Havas Sports & Entertainment was an integral part of the pitch team when their sister company Euro RSCG pitched for Peermont Global business. The pitch was very successful and Havas Sports & Entertainment has already rolled out the first off-complex activation for Emperors Palace in their Epic Challenge promotion. The promotion at Centurion Mall was an unparalleled success with record numbers registering to participate. Two more off-complex activations are planned to roll out shortly.

Based on the success of the Volvo Naughty Convoy which Havas conceptualized and managed for Volvo in 2010, there has been a steady increase in Volvo business. Recently Havas Sports & Entertainment managed the PR and event operations for the Volvo Fashion Finale at Urban Tree which saw the grand reveal of accessories and couture items designed by three of South Africa’s top designers, Nkhensani Nkhosi, David Tlale and Gert-Johan Coetzee. The show stopper was the reveal of the designers’ vehicles on the fashion ramps. The event received massive media coverage and was attended by a slew of fashion and celebrity guests. Havas Sports & Entertainment has also been appointed by Volvo to manage their stand at the Joburg International Motor Show where Volvo will be launching their new brand strategy “Designed Around You” to the South African market. The show runs from 6 to 16 October at Nasrec.
