Paballo Ya Batho receives much-needed aid from DStv

Paballo Ya Batho, a non-profit organisation that provides assistance to homeless people in Johannesburg’s inner city, is the latest recipient of aid valued at R200 000 from the DStv Care More community support initiative.
DStv Care More offers subscribers the chance to nominate their favourite community project to receive assistance. Lauren Graham-Parker from Johannesburg is the DStv subscriber who nominated the project. The aid package from DStv will provide much needed assistance to this organisation, which depends on donations and volunteers to support its various initiatives.
“We are very excited about this aid which will go towards another bakkie for the feeding scheme, as well as our skills development programme,” says centre manager Sam Mugambe. Paballo Ya Batho is well-known for its various outreach programs including a feeding schemes, support groups, and the provision of blankets for the homeless.

Another round of DStv Care More is currently running and will close on Monday, 11 March. Subscribers can once again nominate a community project of their choice to receive an assistance package to the value of R200 000. Nominations can be submitted via SMS, website or using entry forms at MultiChoice customer service branches. For SMS entries customers must SMS the word ‘CARE’ and the name of the community project they wish to nominate to 32512.
