The event was held as an opportunity to get people actively sending messages of support for the Springboks through the #1team1nation campaign website, and to raise funds for two causes through the auctioning off of six unique digital paintings representing iconic Springbok moments.

These funds are to support the Vaseline Wanderers Rugby Development Project which fosters talent from the Alexandra township, and SARU’s CSI project, Boks for Books – a literacy programme that supplies fully stocked mobile or refurbished libraries to previously disadvantaged schools.

The charity auction took place in Johannesburg, led by SABC’s Rugby World Cup brand ambassador, Minnie Dlamini, as MC, and Joey Burke as celebrity auctioneer. It was hosted by Shield and Vaseline, in association with the SABC, as part of the brand’s Rugby World Cup 2015 and ongoing Springboks sponsorship.
