For this ODI, the Protea cricket team will switch their green attire for the day and go pink. The aim is to raise R1-million from activities at the match to support the work the PinkDrive is doing for Breast Cancer Awareness. Uber will be assisting in meeting this target by matching 50% off all Uber trips taken to and from the game. In addition, Uber will also give cricket supporters 10% off Uber rides to and from the match on the day.

Alon Lits, general manager Sub-Saharan Africa for Uber Technologies says; ”Breast cancer affects so many people worldwide. We wanted to join an initiative that makes a difference and show our riders how simple it is to contribute to a worthy cause using our technology.”

CSA chief executive, Haroon Lorgat, says; “Congratulations to Uber for joining in on this initiative, which is part of cricket’s broader responsibility within society. Everyone involved deserves special thanks for their support of this initiative.”

Uber’s partnership agreement also allows cricket fans to make use of the Uber service to and from Proteas home matches for the international season. The Uber promo code, CRICKETSA has been set up for fans wanting to make use of this service. A special 10% discount will apply to all fans making use of Uber to and from the cricket stadiums, while first-time users of Uber will get a R100 discount off their first trip to or from the stadium.

To request a ride, users must download the free application for Android, iPhone, Blackberry 7, Windows Phone or register for Uber here.
