This follows the success of last year’s campaign by DDB which secured an Ad of the Month award, a Gold at the Loeries and was a finalist at Cannes. Irvin’s direction of these commercials unpacks various scenarios in which naughty children give their parents every reason to host their birthday parties at McDonalds and not at home.

The spot was shot on two GoPro cameras, with one attached to a child’s head and the other to his chest. It revolves around ‘a day in the life’ of a mischievous little boy who finds things to do around the house that drive his parents crazy.

“This was a unique commercial to direct because I didn’t have control of the camera, but it was more real for the viewers as they were able to experience the boy’s misdemeanours as well as the parents frustrations,” comments Irvin.

DDB’s creative’s were Grant Jacobson, Sean Harrison, Hital Pandya and Matthew Berge along with producer Rachel Andreotti. The spot was finished off at post houses Ministry of Illusion/Earworm by editor, Tessa Ford. Picture Tree’s executive producer, Gary King and producer Darren Gordon complete the credit list.
