The CTAF Talks Programme grants access to displays by over 80 leading galleries and cultural institutions, interactive installations, walkabouts, and special projects.

Headlining the Talks Programme are former South African constitutional court judge, Albie Sachs and curator of The Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington DC, Karen Milbourne. Invited speakers will address current issues such as collection building, investing in art, as well as reflect on new approaches to curatorial practices in Africa and its Diaspora. Other experts attending include Steven Kettle from Stonehage Fleming Art Management and independent curators Moses Serubiri (Uganda), Gabi Ngcobo (South Africa), Elise Atangana (France/Cameroon), and Sarah Rifky (Lebanon).

A special performance by performance artist, Donna Kukama will take place on Friday, 17 February at 18:00. Kukama is represented by Blank Projects and, according to her gallery, “Kukama uses performance as a means of resistance to the canon and its established artistic practices.” She has performed all over the world, and most recently at the 32nd Sao Paolo Biennale (2016) and the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2015).
