“We’re thrilled to have attracted such a huge pool of entries from across the entire industry,” says Lance Rothschild, CEO of the Liberty Radio Awards. “The response to the awards has been extremely affirming and shows that the industry is very much in favour of independent, transparent, and credible awards.”

“We are just as excited with the huge interest from the industry. We see this initiative as an opportunity for us as Liberty to build partnerships with our communities,” says Sydney Mbhele, chief marketing officer, Liberty Group.

“Radio is the most ubiquitous medium, empowering millions of South Africans daily by sharing compelling content and authentic stories. With a 60 year history of empowering the lives of ordinary South Africans and changing their realities, Liberty is looking forward to celebrating excellence alongside an industry that is constantly raising standards for listeners to enjoy more knowledge and understanding, that builds a better society,” adds Mbhele.

The Liberty Radio Awards team is currently categorising the entries into packages for the expert panel of adjudicators, who commenced their review on Monday, 13 February. Adjudication will end on Friday, 10 March, following which the results will be audited, with finalists being announced at a Gala Banquet at the Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday, 22 April.
