The KSFF is hosted in South Africa by Twin Hearts Productions and Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel in Centurion. The festival is the longest-running film festival in Centurion. The film festival founders, Mari Molefe van Heerden and Reine Swart say that their aim is to showcase film-making in a short format, both locally and internationally, in Centurion.

The duo says that this format has not gotten the exposure that it deserves in South Africa. KSFF aims to be a gateway for audiences to "unearth the real world of film that occurs beyond regular film exhibitions".

KSFF mainly supports outstanding and creative stories that have not received deserved exposure in South Africa. The festival considers narrative, documentary and animated short films (30 min and less), that are in multiple genres from around the world.

The regular submission deadline for South Africans is Saturday, 15 February and submissions can be entered through FilmFreeway. The selected short films will be judged and selected by a South African panel.

The KSFF's official selections will be screened at the film festival in mid-2020. South African filmmakers can enter for free for the early-bird special and regular deadline, or alternatively be charged $-2 for the extended submission.
