Established in 1995, Fine Music Radio (FMR) 101.3 is a community radio station that presents classical and jazz music. Broadcasting 24-hours a day, seven-days a week to listeners in the greater Cape Town area, and to the world through its ‘listen live’ function, FMR 101.3 provides a variety of programming, including topical news and interviews about noteworthy events in Cape Town’s cultural and performing arts life. The station actively supports; encourages; and promotes South African music and musicians, as well as the communities it serves.

FMR 101.3 is a section 21 Company and is funded by members of the FMR Association; donations; advertising; and sponsorship. Although all the FMR presenters are volunteers, the station does employ a small core staff to run the technical and administrative functions of the operation.

FMR's audience comprises decision makers in their 30s; 40s; 50s; and 60s. Nearly a third have a university degree; earn over R12 000 a month; use the internet at home; and fall into the LSM 10 grouping.
