The short film documents the ability of South Africans to overcome adversity. Following the tragedy of the Knysna fires, people from around South Africa donated food, blankets, and clothing to fortify the relief effort in Knysna. Four hundred homes were burnt to the ground and neighbours opened their doors.

With the region's fire brigades struggling to contain the flames, firefighters were dispatched from all over the country to help. Within their ranks, volunteers couldn’t be kept from doing their part, despite the risk.

“People think that if you go to a disaster area you will find people who are demoralised, without hope,” adds Dr Imtiaz Sooliman of Gift of the Givers. “But the strange thing is, the people with the greatest hope are there.”
