Brigitte Reeve-Taylor (founder), together with Tina Fraser (Johannesburg show organizer) have again enlisted voluntary assistance from like-minded people within their broad networks. Through their appeals, several dance companies and studios in Johannesburg will be participating in the once off performance, generously giving of their time without charge and the Roodepoort Theatre has also offered the venue at no cost. The performance will showcase works by Art of Motion, the SA National Showdance Team, Tamra Chace Dance Company, Stanza Dance Company, Happy Feet Studio, L’Academie de Danse, Dancers of the Desert, Eunice Marais School of Dance, Matchbox Theatre Collective, SASAD Senior Youth Dance Company, Sweat Dance Company, Christian School of the Arts, Margie Wells Dancexchange, Crawford College Dance Department, Oakfield’s College and El Rincon Flamenco Dance Company. Special guests include Michelle Veenemans, Sabelo Mthembu and Dancing with Dogs in Africa headed by Susan Kleijnhans’, a group of ladies who will perform with their dogs, some of which have been rescued and nurtured back to wholeness by their trainers.

Since 2012, Dancers Love Dogs has also been staged in Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria and the events have cumulatively raised R500 000, which has allowed for 1500 animals to be safely sterilised to date, with the work continuing regularly. Dancers Love Dogs has also been registered as a non-profit organisation, securing crucial NPO status that enables corporates to donate, with incentives.

The performance at the Roodepoort Theatre takes place on Saturday, 5 October at 20:00 with tickets through Computicket at R250 per person, which is the approximate cost of one sterilisation by vets who only charge cost prices, and give of their time without charge. 100% of the proceeds of Dancers Love Dogs will go towards the sterilisation of dogs. A raffle will be held on the night with great prizes to be won, donated by several sponsors. Anyone unable to attend the show may also make a donation to this very worthy cause.
