October this year will see one of the largest public casting calls ever staged in South Africa when Yo-TV and Maggi 2-Minute Noodles hit the road in search of two new young star presenters for the channel’s Quest for Fame competition as well as to star in an upcoming commercial for Maggi 2-Minute Noodles. Castings are open to all young South Africans aged between 8 and 13 and will take place at selected venues nationally from next month. The winners will be announced on December 5.

“It is one of the largest casting calls ever implemented for a television commercial,” says Maggi 2-Minute Noodles brand manager Natasha Singh. “We are taking the opportunity to all major centres in the country and, more than that, accepting auditions via cell phone MMS - a first in South Africa.” Technology has delivered the option of in situ auditions at shopping malls nationally or alternatively electronically via MMS.

The competition is part of Nestlé’s commitment to youth development in South Africa says Nestlé Corporate Communication and Public Affairs Director Theo Mxakwe. “This is the third competition specifically for South African youth initiated by Nestlé this year, with the first being our Smarties competition and the second our Milo Champions football tournament. These competitions are based on developing curiosity, sporting talent and media presentation skills. As part of our Nutrition, Health and Wellness approach, we believe that the all-round development of the youth of South Africa is an important priority.”

Yo-TV, broadcasts weekdays on SABC 1 from 15:30 and is one of the most popular youth channels in South Africa and takes on the challenge of creating entertaining, informative and educational children’s programming.
