With fastjet being announced as ZIFF’s official airline partner, this year’s festival will be more accessible to South Africans than ever before. Travellers can take advantage of fastjet’s three flights each week to the island from Johannesburg, travelling via Dar es Salaam, from R2137 per person one way, inclusive of taxes.
fastjet flies from Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, departing O.R Tambo International Airport at 23:20. A Coastal Aviation representative will meet passengers on arrival at Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport and transfer them to their short flight to Zanzibar.
"South Africans wanting to visit Zanzibar have had limited choice of airline, limited choice of dates and have been subject to inflated fares," says Jimmy Kibati, fastjet’s general manager for East Africa. "By adhering to international standards of safety, security and reliability, fastjet brings a quality flying experience to the African market at unprecedented low prices," he adds.
"Our partnership with ZIFF ensures that prominent film talent and filmmakers don’t miss out on any of the Festival’s celebration of music, the arts and the spirit of Zanzibar," says Kibati.
ZIFF festival director, Martin Mhando, is excited about the opportunities that this partnership creates: "fastjet’s support of ZIFF means that we can continue to expand our festival programme, and also offer a host of travel specials that will make visiting ZIFF easier for film and music enthusiasts across southern Africa."ZIFF will be announcing travel specials to this year’s Festival within the next few weeks.
