Little Annie is an Antonov AN-2 aircraft which was donated out of love and flown all the way from Russia (Siberia) to South Africa for the purpose of changing people’s lives through Ubuntu (neighbourly love).

To raise funds for the Just Love Mission, the charity that operates Little Annie, The Cockpit Brewhouse, has collaborated with Jaco Hamilton-Attwell to brew a new beer. Hamilton-Attwell’s recipe, on which the beer is based, won second place in the South African National Homebrew Competition in 2014.

The beer, called Antonov Oil, is a Russian Imperial Stout. At 10% alcohol, it is the ideal beer to enjoy next to the fire. Rich and creamy, it is filled with espresso coffee and dark, bitter chocolate notes. All the proceeds from the sale of this beer, will be donated to Just Love Mission. Only 200 bottles of this very special vintage beer have been produced. The plan is to brew it annually.

Antonov Oil will be launched on Sunday, 10 May. The day will start with several low level fly-by’s of Little Annie over The Cockpit Brewhouse in Cullinan and followed by an entertaining show by Koos Kombuis.

The Cockpit Brewhouse’s regular beers are Helles Belles Blond Ale, Spitfire English Pale Ale, Mustang American IPA, Black Widow Stout, and Fokker Weiss, all named after famous aeroplanes. Antonov Oil is a beer for true craft aficionados and is available from The Cockpit Brewhouse, Thursdays to Sundays every week.
