It was awarded as the result of a summer promotion in which a Toyota Hilux Double Cab, valued at R340 000, was up for grabs as the grand prize.

20-year-old Woensdregt, who lives in Kimberly but is originally from Grahamstown, entered the nationwide competition at the Tops at Spar in Hermanus while he was on holiday visiting his family.

“I was having a great holiday in Hermanus when I saw the competition and decided to enter. I can’t believe I won. It’s a dream come true. Thank you Windhoek Beer and Tops. Next time I’m in Hermanus I’ll be driving around in this amazing bakkie,” said Woensdregt.

“We are really happy for Ruac. From all of us at Windhoek Beer, we hope he thoroughly enjoys his prize,” said Butelezi.

She further added that there was great interest in the competition from consumers country-wide, both because of the great prize and an extremely easy entry mechanic.

“All customers had to do was purchase a case of Windhoek Beer (Draught) from any of the 630 Tops at Spar stores which participated nationally. Customers then simply had to SMS the case barcode to 32329, to receive automatic entry into the draw. After a two-month competition period, the winner was finally chosen at random through a lucky draw, monitored by independent auditor, Deloitte.”
