Tourism Chaos Looms
Controversial new visa regulations, coming into effect on Monday, 1 June, have outraged the tourism industry. The new rules dictate that all children under the age of 18 travelling into, out of or through South Africa will have to be accompanied by an unabridged birth certificate and are intended to combat child trafficking. But tourism experts tell Carte Blanche that this red tape will have a devastating blow on tourism and the economy.
Nkandla Report
A year ago Public Protector Thuli Madonsela published her Nkandla report, stating Jacob Zuma and his family had personally benefited from millions spent on improving his private home. In Parliament this week Zuma mocked opposition MPs who had persistently raised questions about Nkandla. A day later, Police Minister Nathi Nhleko’s long-awaited report found the President was not liable for the cost of security upgrades to his home. Carte Blanche reports on the contentious findings.
FIFA Scandal
