Dakota’s African Epic

Thirteen thousand Dakota DC3 aircraft were produced in 1933, exactly 33 years after the Wright brothers made history by taking the first powered flight. In recent years one of these vintage Dakotas has taken well-heeled clientele on luxury safaris across Africa from the Great Rift Valley to the Serengeti. Now, this spectacular airplane has been sold to a wealthy German. Carte Blanche joins her owner and pilot Captain Flippie Vermeulen in an 11-day excursion across West Africa and the Mediterranean and on to her new home in Europe.
