The awards ceremony, hosted in the Kelvin Grove ballroom on Thursday, 25 June, was an opportunity for the Business Women’s Association (BWA) to honour women in business, ranging from emerging entrepreneurs to established professionals and founders of non-profit organisations.

“It was an honour to share the same room with such extraordinary, inspirational and brave women including BWA chair Robyn Hey and guest speaker Liezel van der Westhuizen. The finalists in all of the categories were exceptional, especially in the Social Entrepreneur category where the judges had an impossible task of choosing a winner from a trio of wonderful women who run incredible organisations,” said Seymour.

The winners of the four other categories were Emerging Entrepreneur: Natalie du Toit of Indigi Designs, Social Entrepreneur: Tracey Chambers of The Clothing Bank, Professional: Jeneen Galbraith, co-founder of accounting firm Galbraith Rushby and Corporate: Nomzamo Ngqulana-Kasana, Human Resources/Organisational Development executive at Glacier.

Under Seymour’s guidance Splash PR has steadily secured an attractive client portfolio including PUMA South Africa, Table Mountain Cableway, Cape Classics (NY), The Foschini Group and @home. In 2012 Splash PR was named PR Agency of the Year by the PR Institute of South Africa, after winning five Gold PRISM Awards.

Entering the BWA Awards in 2015 was also an opportunity for Seymour to highlight the work of Bright Start, an education empowerment NPO which is very close to her heart and which Splash PR supports. Bright Start provides access to quality education to children from impoverished communities, aged 3 and upward. The support extends beyond school fees and includes a mentor working with the child and family, as well as adult workshops offering educational and interactive training, providing knowledge that is otherwise inaccessible.

Seymour encouraged women in business to get involved in the BWA and to nominate each other for the awards. “The process has been an opportunity to reflect on where my business has come from and where it is headed, to network and share stories with fellow entrepreneurs and other highly successful women.”
