Agora: From Democracy To The Market is an award-winning documentary on the Greek financial crisis and its impact on ordinary citizens.

Greek filmmaker Yorgos Avgeropoulos shows how a country that once represented the height of European civilisation has descended into economic depression.

Weaving together stories of ordinary citizens with interviews with the country’s most influential power-brokers, Agora brings the impact of Greece’s economic crisis into sharp relief, from record levels of homelessness, unemployment and poverty to the rise of social conflict and the extreme right.

Filmed over four years, Agora documents popular protests in the streets, the birth of solidarity movements and the rise of fascism, while also providing a glimpse of what the future may hold for Greece.

Agora recently won the Best Documentary Orpheus Award in Hollywood's Los Angeles Greek Film Festival.

Part one premieres on Al Jazeera English, channel 406 on DStv at 20:00 on Friday, 3 July 2015, with part two following from Friday, 10 July 2015.
