The first installment earlier this year explored the theme ‘A Change in the Weather’. This time the writers have been challenged to come up with stories inspired by the term ‘Anti-Matter’.

Each play is around 15 minutes in length, making for a evening of surprises and punchy story-telling.

Louis Viljoen's Moronicus Lostica

After the Battle of Mons Graupius, Roman warlord General Titus Flavius Virilus and his faithful slave and squire, Rudy, find themselves lost in a field far from anything they know. Partly fact, partly fiction, some speculation, unrelenting exaggeration, and mostly fiction, this is the story of two men who come to terms with being two men lost in a field far from anything they know.

Jon Keevy's Descent

Trapped in an elevator with unhinged fan Karl, has-been TV star Theo discovers that things can always get worse.

Joanna Evans's Anti-Matter

All John wants to do is play his songs for the crowd. All the other John wants to do is balance things out. With a saw and guitar the two Johns discover that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Anthology: Anti-Matter is on at Alexander Upstairs from Tuesday, 4 to Wednesday, 5 August and from Monday, 10 to Saturday, 15 August. All shows are at 19:00. Tickets are R90 or R80 if paid for in advance and can be booked online.
