“We are thrilled to have Matthew join our creative team. His cross media experience is directly aligned to our ambition to push integration and to create the new agency model” said Pete Case, chief creative officer of O&M South Africa.

Barnes, who is known his work on campaigns for brands like Cell C, Brand South Africa and the Salvation Army, will be responsible for leading the Johannesburg operation to a successful creative integration when the rest of the campus is co-located in October.

Commenting on his new role, Barnes said; “Working with Gloo has been a dream for a long time. Creating a completely integrated creative studio with over 100 people is a first in SA. I think it’s a bold but essential approach to creating resilient, collaborative ideas that thrive across multiple media, and I am thrilled to be a part of this.”

He added that has was “excited to work with brilliant minds including some old colleagues, Marianna O’Kelly and Neo Mashigo”.

“We each have unique strengths which, when combined, have the potential to deliver ground-breaking work across traditional boundaries,” added Barnes.
