The sparkling drink brand recently launched their fun and exciting new mobile game called Crowns On but felt that there was a need to expand the game.

“We wanted to take the game to another level and have consumers engage with it on different platforms and not just on mobile. This game is something a little different and during the hustle and bustle of everyday life it is nice to take a moment, have a break and do something fun” says Serena Ramiah, senior brand manager for Appletiser.

Appletiser turned to DAN to help them do this. The team at DAN used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to build a specialised smart app known as bot. AI enabled the brand to deploy bots on Facebook, websites and on the mobile channel simultaneously.

“Users are able to simply start a conversation with Appletiser’s bot, either on Appletiser.co.za or by starting a “chat” with Appletiser by using the “message” button on their Facebook page,” says Matthew Brown, head of innovation for TBWA and the Digital Arts Network South Africa.

A chat interface will then open and users will be taken through the Crowns On quiz where they will be asked a series of fun and exciting multiple choice questions around popular TV series, films and actors.

“The game is setup in such a way that it uses different animated gifs and conversational engagement to create a truly unique and interactive digital experience,” says Brown.

All users who play the game either on Facebook, online or on mobile also stand a chance to win 1 of 1700 three month Showmax subscriptions.

“By using this sort of technology, Appletiser as a brand hopes to create an emotional connection with fans and the brand’s larger community. We hope that fans enjoy the Crowns On experience and crown their moment with Appletiser,” says Ramiah.
