What inspired you to become an actor?

I was moved by the experience of plays and films and the way they transformed me throughout my childhood. Once I moved to the USA, I decided to pursue theatre in university, but it was simply because there were so many pretty girls in the theatre department.

Most actors break into the local industry first when they start out. Why did you decide to immediately go into the international industry?

I never did decide that. I came to the USA as an athlete, I’ve always been a New York actor (with South African roots and upbringing) pursuing a profession that’s been in America, so it wasn’t international to me because New York was already my home. I started out as a New Yorker, not a South African.

Are there any other types of roles you haven’t had a chance to portray yet which you still would like to be cast in?

My agents and managers are constantly bringing me attractive new roles for film and TV. Some are direct offers, some are auditions. Every role, every character, every project is a new endeavour unto itself.

What to you is the best part about acting?

I get to do what I love and have trained for, while traveling the world and working with people at the very top of their game.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I haven’t thought about it yet. Tomorrow brings opportunities and troubles of its own, so I’m just grateful to get through today.

Are there any other careers you would like to pursue in future?

I'm enjoying the rewarding journey that my acting has brought and continues to bring. At some point, I'll flirt with writing more screenplays and perhaps some producing.
