Tribune Herald journalist, Doreen Premdev, has been awarded a four-month scholarship to India. Premdev will act as the Herald’s correspondent while in India. She is currently studying for a diploma in development journalism for non-aligned and developing countries at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication’s New Delhi campus. Premdev says, “The objective of the course is to familiarize participants with the link between development, media and communication. It aims to build on skills, enable the exchange of professional views, bring an international dimension to participants’ outlook and explore techniques and strategies to utilise new sources of news gathering and distribution”. Premdev joins 20 students from Nepal, Afghanistan, Suriname, Bangladesh, Lesotho, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Guyana, Guinea-Bissau, Egypt, Laos, Macedonia, Mauritius, Nigeria, Tajikistan, Tanzania and Uzbekistan.
