It has already secured Bonang Matheba as host and top South African musos Zakes Bantwini, Zwai Bala and Idols winner Khaya Mthethwa have scoured Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal respectively to find singers for their ultimate choir.

Now the competition is heating up even more. The first female to join the group of Choir Masters is South Africa’s First Lady of Afro-Pop and Jazz, Judith Sepuma.

The legendary songstress will be in Limpopo this weekend to put the choir together that will take on rivals from six other provinces all led by celebrity musos. Will she manage to find the talent that can outsing the others to walk off with the grand prize of R500 000 (R250 000 for the choir and R250 000 for the charity of their choice) Only time will tell.

The Limpopo auditions will take place on Saturday, 1 December and Sunday, 2 December at Fusion Boutique Hotel, 4 Schoeman Street, Polokwane from 08:00 to 18:00.

To stand a chance to secure a spot in Sephuma’s choir, singers need to showcase their golden voices. Therefore, they are encouraged to choose a song that will display their vocal abilities.

At the auditions, the Choir Masters also challenge potential contestants to perform different genres of music - from Pop, RnB and Gospel to Soul – in a choral formation.

Existing choirs are allowed to audition as a group, but that doesn’t mean the entire choir will make it into the competition. The seven Choir Masters are tasked to compile their own choir. This means if the Choir Master hears a distinctive voice within the choir, he/she can pull certain members that will fill a spot in their 20-piece maestro masterpiece and represent their original choir in Clash of the Choirs SA.

“I’m excited to be going back to my hometown for the Clash of the Choirs,” muses Sepuma. “I’m looking forward to seeing the talent that lies in Limpopo.”

To avoid disappointment and long queues, contestants can make their way to the venue before 18:00 as space is limited. One can download audition forms and pre-register at www.mzansimagic.tv to speed up the process on the day of auditions, or just rock up at the venue. Remember to bring ones ID to the audition.
