The February issue, on shelf from Wednesday, 23 January, features the winners and runners-up of this popular national home improvement competition, along with their winning home improvements that will no doubt motivate thousands of other readers to revamp, restore and redo their homes.

The winning couple of the 2012 competition, Yolanda Cilliers and Oostewald Bekker from Boston, Cape Town impressed the judges by demonstrating how a small budget can go a long way when it comes to updating an old, run-down home. Through not being afraid to get their hands dirty and by doing most of the building work themselves, this enterprising couple managed to transform a neglected house into an inviting home - all within a modest budget of only R22 100. This led to them scooping the grand prize of R25 000 in vouchers from sponsors Pennypinchers and Timbercity towards the next stage of their renovation project.

“After four years of creative renovations, our winners and runners-up still managed to exceed our expectations with the standard of their home improvements,” says Tuis/Home’s editor, Anneke Blaise. “This year marks the fifth of our annual Fix it with Flair competition and we can’t wait to see what this year’s entrants will achieve.”

Tuis/Home, the country’s bestselling home and garden magazine, is synonymous with inspiring their readers to push boundaries and explore their creative side. The Fix it with Flair competition for 2013 kicks off with a call to entry in the February issue.
