Dance Umbrella will remain a platform for new contemporary choreography and dance and will now be structured as follows:
The Main programme: only commissioned work from South African choreographers, invited international works and selected works from the Dance Forum residency programme will be featured.
The Student/Young Choreographers programme: this is a new addition to
Dance Umbrella’s programme - students who are focusing on choreography as a career, and young artists who have created at least two works, are invited to enter a work that does not exceed 20 minutes.
Stepping Stones programme: only youths, community groups and choreographers that are not working regularly will be considered. The running time may not exceed 10 minutes. Stepping Stones is an important platform to test new work for choreographers and companies and often new talent is spotted here.
Entries close on Friday, 29 March and late entries will not be accepted.
