After going on a musical lull for a few months, Afro Café returns on SABC 2 this March. The music show is back on our television screens on Wednesday, 13 March at 22:00, replacing Jam Sandwich.
Afro Café is back with a new season that will see the programme broadcast from a brand new-studio with new format inserts introduced to the show. There will be a focus on the performance stage which has four segments. The new set is flexible. It can change shape from one episode to another with ease. Lighting plays a big role in the new Afro Café look. It is used to enhance the mood according to tracks performed, all put together to create a memorable experience.
The show will retain presenter, Stoan Seate, however he will mostly be used as a host who introduces the guest than being a full on presenter, which was the case in the previous seasons.
The newly revamped show will speak directly to the guest. The guests are now encouraged to tell their own stories. They address the viewers directly, share personal stories and give the history of the songs performed. Another addition on the show is that Seate will be hosting the show from different locations all over the country.
“We recently re-launched our channel, and one of our key pillars talks to family. Through music we are able to bring families together, however diversified. Afro Café is a vehicle to ensure that we entrench this pillar amongst our loyal viewers. We believe that they will love the new Afro Café studio set, and some of the musicians who will be on stage,” said Lebo Malete, SABC2 Publicity.
Afro Café will be broadcast from Wednesday, 13 March at 22:00 on SABC2.
