5FM is bringing the party and the power of virtuous to Durban this July for the station’s fifth Durban Takeover Weekend, with a series of events that have become a can’t-miss on the South African social calendar. Held over four days from Thursday, 4 to Sunday, 7 July, the
5FM Durban Takeover Weekend ties in with the Durban July where some of
5FM’s top DJs will be performing live, hosting events and giving back as part of
5FM’s CSI initiative, Youngblood5.
5FM heats up The Miller Boomtown Marquee at the Durban July on Saturday, from 11:00 with the hottest live entertainment hosted by
5FM’s Poppy Ntshongwana and featuring performances from international rapper 2 Chainz who will be sharing the stage with South African artists such as Dimplez, Khuli Chana, AKA, Vigilante and
5FM DJ’s Rob & Fix, MsCosmo, Milkshake and House Head Euphonik. The party doesn’t end when the races do – (Live)5 featuring AKA and Khuli Chana hosted by Catherine Grenfell along with the Ultimix: Weekend Edition will broadcast live from the
5FM Miller Boomtown Marquee, keeping the good vibes going from 17:00 to 22:00 with the beats from
5FM’s Euphonik and guest DJ’s Kent and others. In 2013,

Metro FM will be part of the City of Durban marquee during the day at the Durban Vodacom July. The station will have an Outside Broadcast, from 06:00 to 09:00 with Joe (SABC Studio’s); from Noon to 15:00 with Carole; and from 15:00 to 18:00 with Sbu, live from the marquee at the racecourse. On Thursday, 4 July,
Metro FM will be handing over a house to the family in Umgababa as part of its CSI initiative. Siphokazi will broadcast live from Umgababa from 09:00 to Noon and Amon and Thato will broadcast live from Noon to 15:00.
Ukhozi FM will partner with the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism department and will host a lifestyle marquee at Vodacom Durban July and a beach party as a closing.
