So, what is one waiting for? Gather one's girlfriends and head to the nearest Ster-Kinekor cinema for a well-deserved mid-week break. Enjoy this new romantic comedy about love and time travel, as one is entertained with a special sneak preview of
About Time on Wednesday, 23 October from 19:00.
About Time is a British romantic comedy that presents a new take on time travel as a young man travels back in time to correct the mistakes of his past, in order to improve his future. Written and directed by Richard Curtis, the movie focuses on a talent that is passed on from a father (Bill Nighy) to his grown-up son, Tim (Domhnall Gleeson).
Tim is a pale and lanky, ginger-haired young fellow who, at certain angles, looks positively handsome - he is, in the Curtisian way, a hopeful romantic. On his 21
st birthday, he is informed by his father that the men in their family are secretly blessed with the gift of time-travel. One just nip into a dark closet or cupboard, clenched one's fists and, hey presto, one was off. But, there is something in the small print that reveals it is travel of a limited kind: the beneficiaries can only trip back in time (not forwards) and only within their own lifetime.
Tim knows straightaway how he is going to use this power: he wants to get a girlfriend. Things look promising when he meets a cute American girl, Mary (Rachel McAdam). However, on account of a glitch, he ‘loses’ that first encounter and has to start to woo her all over again.
About Time releases to the public at Ster-Kinekor theatres countrywide on Friday, 25 October.
