Listeners were encouraged to SMS the key word “Karino” and their names to stand a chance of winning. Sithole was one of 15 finalists who drew keys that could possible unlock the house, and his was the winning key.

“I was driving a truck from Durban to Nelspruit when I heard about the competition, then I SMSed 12 times. I kept in mind that this is a competition and anything can happen. I would like to thank Ligwalagwala FM and encourage listeners to stay tuned to the station because they might also strike it lucky one day.” Sithole will share his house with his two children; Blessing 12, Alicia 8 and his wife Merry Mabuza. His wife who was present to give support said “I feel like I’m dreaming, I still can’t believe it. I’m a person who doesn’t believe in competitions because I thought they are just fooling people while they know the winner, but I have been proven wrong.”

Three prizes were up for grabs in this competition; R10 000 cash, a Bursary for a child to study at Meridian Karino Private School for three years valued at R140 000 as well as the house.
The R10 000 cash prize was won by Zanele Nkosi from Kanyamazane. Joyce Dikgale, also from Kanyamazane, won herself the bursary.
