The Ocean Festival is hosted annually in the Western Cape, showcasing what the Mother City has to offer. The Clipper Race Stopover, will take place during the South African Ocean Festival, the festival will offer music, food, kids’ activities and ocean-related content.

The festival will see a performance from Beatenburg and various action-packed water sports. Watch a demonstration of a new sport - the Jetovator, to fully dressed and flag catching Dragon boat racing or watch an example of what the NSRI do during a rescue.

Capetonians can take part in a variety of activities, from the open water team relay on a set course over a set distance, to the canoe polo mini demonstration and the Xtreme Water Polo tournament.

According to SAMSA, the main goal of the festival is not only to boost the tourism potential of South Africa’s marine assets, but to create business and job opportunities. Sindiswa Nhlumayo, SAMSA Centre of Maritime Excellence’s executive head, says that the ocean provides a perfect platform to achieve the above-mentioned objectives.

The Ocean Festival‘s vision is to celebrate the ocean through ocean sports, art, music, food and education while promoting a destination and creating opportunities for small businesses,” says Nhlumayo.
