Ayanda will screen in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Alanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Houston, Detroit, Montgomery, Seattle, Calabash, Greensboro and Boston.

Various institutes and platforms such as ImageNation and AfriPop will also host screenings.

“I’m very thrilled and grateful for the opportunity Ava Duvernay has given us through her distribution company, Array. Ayanda is a universal story that everyone can relate to and it’s exciting to know that the U.S. will have a chance to see this film and see a different side of Africa and a strong unapologetic African female lead, something the world has not seen in cinema before,” says Pheto.

Pheto co-produced Ayanda under her company, Leading Lady Productions. Since the film’s release, it has been showcased at film festivals across the globe and was recently purchased by Ava Duvernay for U.S. distribution.
