kulula fans raised a further R50 000 to top up on an already inspirational R1-million to support South Africa’s national greening enterprise, Food & Trees for Africa’s (FTFA).These efforts are in response to climate change as well as improving the environment, especially for the poor. This was achieved through kulula’s Project Green Programme, which aims to combat the atmospheric carbon loads and greenhouses gases released bykulula’s aircraft.

kulula planted 521 trees on Tuesday, 6 November through FTFA’s Trees for Homes programme, for the benefit of the residents of Boipatong, situated in the South of Johannesburg. “People from this area were relocated from a nearby informal settlement,” explained Emmanuel Sinthumule, the FTFA ecopreneur in charge of the project. “Many of these people are living off government grants due to the high unemployment rate. Trees will help to supplementthe nutrition for the community in the form of fruit.”

“We are pleased to have this project in our ward and we are saying please bring some more trees if you still have more. We want to see our area green in years to come,” added councillor Velaphi Mzangwa.

“Together we can make our planet a better place to live in. A lot still needs to be done to get the message across to our people. By one simple positive act, one can change our planet for the better. kulula has proven its commitment to the people of Boipatong,”said Trees for Homes manager, Katja Janicke
