Not only was a crowd of 17 000 people treated to fun and festivities at the 30th Community Chest Twilight Fun Run in Cape Town this week, the event also marked the hand-over of not one but two trucks to Community Chest by the Peninsula Beverage Company (PenBev).
The two trucks, a Toyota Dyna truck and the Nissan bakkie were filled with goodies, such as food, Coca-Cola products, bedding, toiletries and toys by each sponsor of the Twilight Fun Run and will be donated to several charities nominated by the Chest including St Francis Home for Boys, St George’s Home for Girls and Sisters Incorporated.
The donation of the trucks reiterated PenBev's commitment to Community Chest and forms part of their 'Live for a Difference' campaign to make a positive difference in the world through redesigning the way people live, work and interact with each other.
Stuart McLeod, managing director of PenBev comments, "PenBev has a long-standing association with Community Chest spanning more than 50 years and our involvement includes the Give-As-You-Earn initiative, The Community Chest carnival and the Twilight Team Fun Run since its inception 30 years ago. We are very proud of our involvement with the Chest and look forward to working with them to build a greater country to live in."
