With the support of the Prime Media In-store team, the landscape of the scenic entrance to the renowned gardens is set to be transformed as each tree will be wrapped in a green ribbon sending the message that, if each one took the time to care for even just one tree, the collective impact of taking care of the environment would be astoundingly positive – speaking true to Garnier’s Take Care philosophy.

Teresa Mordoh, Garnier SA business unit director says "Take Care has always been part of the Garnier DNA and as a brand we believe that there is hope if we all take care. Caring comes from a part of us that is more than body or mind, it’s a heart and soul connection. People want to do something for others but don’t always know what or how. To make it easy for them, we’ve partnered with our local brand ambassadors and various organisations to provide opportunities for public participation in our Take Care initiatives.”

The Garnier Take Care philosophy is centred around three key pillars:

-Take Care of Yourself – be happy and confident in one's own skin.
-Take Care of Others – love, respect and be generous to others.
-Take Care of the Earth – It’s the only environment one has.

Take Care of Yourself is embedded in Garnier as a beauty brand and always focussed on helping women take care of themselves through high quality, simple, smart and effective beauty products that are inspired by nature. However, now Garnier SA is extending this philosophy to include taking care of others and taking care of the earth.

Take Care of Others is about taking care of one's community and respecting others. Garnier has a long standing relationships with local brand ambassadors, TV stars Zizo Beda and Connie Ferguson, who are very excited about being involved in all the Take Care initiatives and will be actively engaged in encouraging people to Take Care of Others and this has been well received by communities.

Supporting this pillar, Garnier recently launched the Take Care – Take Control School Program in less privileged schools which focuses on helping to build the girls’ self-esteem, educates them of the importance of taking care of themselves and encourages kindness towards others.

Take Care of the Earth focuses on projects aimed at raising funds, creating awareness and supporting local environmental and sustainability initiatives. To support this pillar, Garnier has partnered with organisations like Miss Earth South Africa and Earth Force. Earth Force is run by commercial philanthropists that have mobilised local community groups to create green beaded Earth Force bracelets for the Take Care initiative. The bracelets will be sold for R40 each at selected retailers such as Exclusive Books, by all our partners and online.

Net proceeds from the sale of the bracelets will be held in trust by Pledge a Portion a registered Public Benefit Organisation and will be donated to environmentally focused projects in 2014.

To engender a culture of caring amongst the youth - Garnier is also piloting a Take Care Program in several Gauteng schools to provide a platform for young teens to participate in an organised ‘caring’ programme that celebrates the value of kindness and respect for the environment.

As part of the programme, schools appoint a Take Care committee that raises awareness of the Take Care philosophy amongst learners through the sale of Earth Force bracelets. A percentage of the money raised by selling Earth force bracelets is retained by the participating schools to organise their own Take Care projects to demonstrate and extend their caring spirit.

“As a brand it’s important for us to encourage our customers, their families, their friends and their communities to get involved and put their weight behind initiatives that make a tangible difference in their own lives and those of others, because we truly believe the journey to a better world starts by taking care,” added Mordoh.
