The day will see young graduates pitch their talents to the agencies in the hope of securing one of up to six positions in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Nicola Nel, MD of Atmosphere Communications says the consultancy believes in grooming the next generation of talented young graduates. “The communications industry has evolved dramatically in the last decade and integration of various disciplines is now critical to delivering on successful communications programmes and campaigns. Attracting top talent with a diverse set of skills, knowledge and desire to experiment and be curious is a necessary step in staying relevant.”

“At Atmosphere and Society, interns experience real-world, work-related situations and learn tangible skills that will help them adapt to the working environment. In addition, softer skills not taught in the classroom such as leadership, teamwork and self-confidence are also developed,” Nel says.

Atmosphere is the public relations firm retained by clients such as Capitec, Cotton On, and Windhoek beer. Society is a social media agency with a client base including Steri-Stumpie, City of Cape Town and Rimmel London. The agencies share the Sanlam, Santam, kulula, Mweb, Hansgrohe and Burger King accounts. This is the first year Society is participating in the day, with internships for the social media shop on offer only in Cape Town.
