TikTok has announced that it is set to revolutionise how content creators engage with the platform through significant Community Guidelines updates. The updates are effective as of Friday, 17 May. These enhancements are designed to provide creators with clearer rules and greater control, ensuring a safer and more compliant community.
According to the platform, key updates include the following:
Enhanced visibility and compliance
The new 'Account Check' feature allows creators to conduct self-audits and review their last 30 posts for adherence to TikTok's standards. This tool aims to foster transparency and encourage compliance with platform policies.
For You feed eligibility
Accounts repeatedly posting content that violates the platform's guidelines will temporarily lose their eligibility to be recommended in the 'For You' feed, making it crucial for creators to stay informed and compliant.
First-time violations
Creators who breach guidelines for the first time will receive a warning strike and detailed information on the violation. This process includes a right to appeal, reinforcing TikToks commitment to fairness. However, it is important to note that TikTok maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any incitement to violence.
TikTok creator Code of Conduct
In addition to updates, TikTok is introducing a 'Creator Code of Conduct' that will apply to all creators participating in TikTok programmes, events and campaigns both on and off the platform.
These updates aim not only to clarify the expectations for content but also to empower creators to maintain a positive and responsible presence on TikTok, concludes the platform.
